My career as an educator/administrator allowed me to work with children, adolescents, parents and fellow educators and I found myself drawn to the story and ‘spark of life’ that each person held within themselves.
As a child I was always interested in drawing, painting, color and form and when I retired I jumped into creating art. I have had the gift of 15+ years of instruction and working with other gifted artists to develop skills in drawing, traditional water color, collage and painting with acrylic and oils.
I now combine my passion of creating art and exploring and sharing the spark of life in all of creation.
Whether painting a landscape, a piece of architecture, an animal or a person, I seek to capture the “life spirit” of my subject. By imbedding human subjects in intimate, often domestic settings, I build a story that allows the viewer to know about each individual. When representing nature, people or contemporary abstraction, I use a stylized format and rely on line, color and texture to evoke an emotional response. My goal is always an emotional connection between the viewer and the subject.
