Visual Artist

About Me
I’m Simone Gratton and I am a retired educator, mother, grandmother and visual artist living in Calgary. I began my artistic journey as a child creating cartoon portraits and silhouettes for my brothers and sisters to hang on their walls. I took a 40 year hiatus and only returned to art when I retired in 2009.
For the last 16 years I have worked with a number of very talented artist/teachers and honed my skills and knowledge to create images that reflect the way I see the world. I work in acrylic with paper and various mediums and love to create chunky, textured pieces. I am drawn to the human figure and life in all forms of nature and strive to imbue personality into my stylized work. I have ventured into Abstraction and am loving the freedom it provides.
